San Tommaso Cerano d'Intelvi Like
The San Tomaso Park occupies the lower foothills of the ridge of Corno Birone (1,116 m), Mount Rai (1,250 m), Mount Prà Santo (1,245 m) and the Colma di Val Ravella (939 m). The park offers a beautiful landscape from just a short distance from the town of Valmadrera. In the springtime it is a famous destination for short and easy excursions because of the charming blossoming almond trees. The rural compound is undergoing extensive renovation and is now used both as a rest stop for tourists and for zoothecnical and agricultural activities; furthermore, the Museo dell'Agricoltura (Museum of Agriculture) and the church of San Tomaso are open to the public. Many hiking paths starts from here giving the chance to know the surrounding woods, the erratic boulders, the Taja Sass (a gigantic stone once used by a local marble company) and the cabins in which until the 1950s and 1960s the processing of milk was taking place.
