Madonna del Bosco Shrine Imbersago Like
The shrine of Madonna del Bosco is one of the most famous sanctuaries devoted to Mary in all Lombardy, due to its link to Pope John XXIII. The shrine is a great example of Lombardy Baroque and it is placed in the river Adda’s valley on a hill offering panoramic views. The octagonal temple was built in 1645 and overlooks the Saint Staircase of 349 steps dating back to the early Nineteenth century, on whose top there is the Bronze statue of Pope John XXIII, unveiled by Cardinal Montini, then Pope Paul VI. In 1967, three young shepherds witnessed the Holy Virgin “among heavenly lights and magnificence and harmonious melodies".
